Green tea: There is no end to the benefits of this super drink; green tea boasts a wealth of benefits that earns it the top spot in our anti-aging food list. Green tea is believed to help regulate blood pressure, lower blood sugar, boost the immune system, lower cholesterol and studies have even shown that green tea can be effective at preventing cancer. That’s as close to the elixir of life as you can get

15

Leafy greens: Whilst eating spinach won’t be enough to turn you into Popeye, it’s certainly excellent for boosting the body’s immunity from illness. Spinach and other leafy foods like kale and collard are high in folate which is vital in preventing DNA and blood vessel damage. If you can maintain a healthy circulatory system you are reducing your risk of developing conditions such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease and dementia.

16

Soy products: Like fish, soy products such as tofu are also a great alternative source of protein than red meat or even dairy, since they have little or no saturated fat. A diet that’s low in saturated fat will reduce your risk of developing heart disease and lower blood pressure. As a staple part of the Japanese diet, soy products are great at helping keep down cholesterol and are a useful addition to a healthy diet.

17

Yogurt: Judging from their frequently bad press, you might assume that all forms of bacteria are out to get you. Thankfully, this couldn’t be further from the truth. ‘Good’ bacteria is great for regulating the immune system, by increasing its antibodies and preventing the rise of pathogenic organisms like salmonella and E.coli. Many yoghurts include a high volume of ‘good’ bacteria that help maintain gut health and diminish the incidence of age-related intestinal illness. Yogurt is also rich in calcium, which can help stave off osteoporosis.

18

Red wine: A glass of red wine adds up a good dose of anti-aging elements including polyphenol antioxidants, minerals, and resveratrol. Resveratrol which helps to increase ‘good cholesterol’ levels in the body and prevents blood clotting and a healthy circulatory system. Resveratrol found in red wine may also be beneficial for women during the menopause by reducing the risk for conditions for example breast cancer and osteoporosis that result from reduced oestrogen levels. Like the chocolate, it’s not carte blanche to guzzle as much as you want; we suggest a standard glass every other day is a good approach.

19

Water: Few people — whether active or not — drink sufficient water, and side effects of even slight dehydration include headaches, fatigue and low concentration levels. Yet increasing fluid intake can increase energy levels, aid digestion, give skin a boost and help boost your anti-aging armoury. Concentrate on drinking little and often throughout the day, being extra vigilant after exercise or when you’ve been confined in a dry, overheated or air-conditioned environment.

Think positive. Exercise daily. Eat healthy. Work hard. Stay Strong. Worry less. Dance more. Love often. Be Happy. 🙂

Maxi dresses are so gorgeous. Don’t you just love the way the hemline gently sways around the legs? Many women associate long dresses with dressy, formal occasions. However it’s all changing now – and it has become acceptable and stylish to wear a maxi dress without hurting your fashion skills/sense. A long dress is elegant, comfy and chic!

How to wear it?

Maxi Dresses for Petite:

–          If you’re petite (5’4″ or shorter) your main goal is to avoid looking like a tent. Choose a full-length dress that sits snugly to your body figure – especially around the hips and thighs. And not least, around your waist (or below the bust).

–          For some extra height, wear pumps, wedges or high heeled sandals.

Maxi Dresses for Plus Size Women:

–          Long dresses are the perfect match for your frame as it minimizes large hips and legs.

–          Many plus size women carry weight around the upper arms, concealing narrow shoulders. So to complement your upper body – opt for wider straps. Spaghetti straps on the other hand will only make your frame look bigger in comparison (unless the color of the dress is similar to your skin tone!).

–          If you have a thick waist, place a solid black or dark brown wide stretch belt around the thinnest part of your torso. This will give you a more balanced and lean body frame as well as bring out a waist.

–          Hiding your body in loose-fitted long dresses will only make you look boxy, so choose a dress that sits snugly to your body figure without clinging.

Summer is Slippin’ away .. Summertime sadness..

Do what we can; summer will have its flies. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Taino-Beach-Bahamas-1600

Summer is going to end this coming 3rd week of May. And when the month of June starts, classes all over the Philippines will begin once more.  Beaches are filled to capacity, now more than ever, by the people who are trying to catch the last rays of the summer sun.

In similar places around the country, you will see College students partying so hard, like they were on their last days on Earth.

Malls are packed with more than the usual number of mall rats and teenagers occupying more tables at food courts where free Wifi is available.

Everywhere else, people rushing to squeeze as much out of their summer before it end.

Office outings, family reunions, and malls are conducting sales to get rid of summer merchandise.

Everybody is in frenzy, everybody is in a hurry.

 ss

When June finally comes in, Schools will begin classes.

After two to four weeks of transition, life at school will get back to normal for everyone in the Philippines.

Ah summers, everyone wish they never end.

The importance of Eating a Healthy Lunch. :)

Eating a healthy lunch is important for so many reasons!

  • Food gives us our energy. Eating a nutrient-packed lunch helps us avoid a mid-afternoon crash!
  • Skipping lunch leaves us starving by the time we get home from work or running errands. This leads to binge eating or the temptation to hit the drive-thru.
  • Taking time out of your busy day to eat lunch with a friend or co-worker helps you refresh and relationship build, two things that are great for our spirits!
